We’re looking at sound waves in 4th grade today. We’ll be doing a demonstration with a large set of speakers and a slow motion camera. Before that, we’ll look at some resources that will help us understand what sound waves are.
Some vocabulary that will be useful:
These first resources will help demonstrate that sound has energy, and that waves radiate out from the sources of the noise.
Now we’ll look at a couple of simulations that will show us how waves travel.
Finally, we’ll do a demonstration with the large speaker to see what different wavelengths / frequency of sound looks like in motion.
